Discipline summary

Art is the creation of an object or an assembly of objects for the sake of themselves, as an expression of the human experience. Literature is dissimilar in that the medium of its creation is language rather than objects or materials. Over time, their mutual narrative definitions have expanded and been adopted to include other disciplines. In this way, art and literature have become placeholders that denote our expressive output from within a specific niche or from a particular perspective or time period.
