Alternate reality gaming

Abstract

This article offers information on alternate reality gaming (ARG). Alternate reality games are a new genre in digital gaming designed to blur the lines of reality and fantasy. ARGs have combined online information and real-world events, all the while connecting gamers with each other in order to solve puzzles and advance a game's plot. ARGs are unique because the game universe is not explicitly limited to a particular piece of software or set of digital content. Several websites and online discussion groups contain and reveal gaming clues.
