Abstract

Studied the validity and clinical usefulness of various approaches to the analysis of dream content. Human subjects: Five normal Finns. Ss were awakened systematically several times per night to obtain dream samples from 3 autonomic sleep stages (active, intermediate, and quiet). Respiration, cardiac activity, and body movements were measured. Dream content was analyzed with 3 methods: content analysis (C. S. Hall and R. L. Van de Castle, 1966); experimental dream group (M. Ullman, 1979); and psychoanalytic free association. (English abstract) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
