Abstract

NCEA conducts ecological risk assessments as a way to evaluate the adverse effects that human activities and pollutants have on the plants and animals that make up our ecosystems. The information analyzed in ecological risk assessments provide a way to develop, organize, and present scientific information so that it is relevant to environmental decisions. These decisions may include the regulation of hazardous waste sites, industrial chemicals, and pesticides.
