Abstract

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Marietta, Georgia wanted to transform a surplus of engineers from traditional areas into software engineers, whom it found hard to attract and keep as employees. Thus, the company approached Southern Polytechnic State University to plan and offer a software engineering retraining program. The resultant program turns engineers from traditional areas into software engineers through university coursework and a company practicum.
