Abstract

Over the past decade, neuroscientific studies of consciousness have produced a rapidly growing body of experimental data. Theories and models of consciousness are required to account for these data and to provide explanatory links between features of neuronal activity and features of conscious experience. Here, we outline several major properties of consciousness that require explanation, and, in this light, we review current theoretical approaches and modeling strategies. © 2009 unknown.
