Abstract

In this paper, we document the creation of a web-based lexical cor- pus and a set of lexical tools for the less-resourced Semitic language Maltese. The bene ts and shortcomings of using the web as a source of textual information are discussed in addition to the practical steps taken to develop and evaluate the re- sulting resources. We believe this preliminary work sets the groundwork for further development of Semitic language resources, as well as for less-resourced languages in general, and contributes to a growing interest to apply corpus data in theoretical analysis.
