Abstract

Human Computer Interaction (HCI) has seen tremendous changes in the past decades. The dramatic increase in computing power communication channels has had a significant and understanding of human impact on traditional HCI fields such as virtual reality and computer vision. At the same time, new interaction paradigms have been developed. The need for a more interactive experience in interacting with machines encourages the development of force-feedback devices, which exploit the often under- estimated human sense of touch. This paper presents an innovative haptic solution combining state-of-the-art parallel mechanics with dedicated control electronics, which can be coupled with a virtual reality engine. It opens the door to a wide range of applications including advanced simulations, user-friendly teleoperation and nanomanipulation
