Abstract

Digital technology provides museum visitors with a variety of resources and support for their informal learning. Digital technology can push museum-learning beyond the physical walls. First, I examine the benefits of using digital technology within a museum context. Second, I consider the concerns and challenges when adapting this technology to museum learning. Finally, I compare the benefits and challenges, and offer suggestions to museum professionals who may be interested in developing or integrating digital technology into their exhibitions and educational programs.
