Describes the compilation and contents of a directory of enterprises offering documentation services compiled in 2003 by the Sociedad Espanola de Documentacio e Informacion Cientifica (Sedic), and updated in 2004. Companies and services offered are classified, and the types of employment offered as well as staff selection procedures analysed. The results show a predominance of temporary employment, preference for experience in information technology, document organization and storage, and customer relations. Information professionals are considered to often be deficient in their knowledge of the business world, and in experience of project management. (Original abstract)
