Handbook on Cooperatives for use by Workers ’ Organizations

Abstract

This handbook on cooperatives for use by workers' organizations aims at improving the knowledge on cooperative enterprise. This form of organization, which is not new, is often unrecognised by the public at large, especially by workers and their organizations. Therefore, this handbook is an attempt to alleviate this defecit by analysing the essential things to know about cooperatives: the characteristic features ofcooperatives, cooperative enterprise as a whole, the promotion of cooperatives and the close ties that exist between the ILO and cooperatives.
