Abstract

La creación de Amigos Imaginarios (AI), por parte de los niños, es un fenómeno que comenzó a estudiarse a finales del siglo XIX. Las poblaciones de niños que fueron analizadas correspondían a niños huérfanos o abandonados y las explicaciones dadas a la existencia de estos personajes fueron clínicas. Los avances a nivel investigativo han permiti-do determinar que si bien, hay algunos niños que crean AI como una forma de compensar sus carencias afectivas o sociales, la mayoría de los niños con AI pertenecen a la población normal. Una característica interesante de esta población de niños es la relación que se ha encontrado entre la existencia de AI y ciertas capacidades cognitivas como la comprensión de la teoría de la mente (TM) y las emociones. Este artículo pretende analizar tanto la visión clínica respecto a la existencia de AI como la postura cognitiva. Palabras clave: imaginación infantil, cognición, desarrollo infantil. absTracT The creation of AI (Imaginary Friends) on the part of the children is a phenomenon that began to be studied at the end of the XIX century. The populations of children that were analyzed were orphan or abandoned children. Therefore, the explanation given to the existence of these characters was certainly emotional and clinic. The advances at investiga-tive level have allowed to determined that although, there are some children that create AI, like a form of compensating their affective or social lacks, most of the children with AI be-long to the normal population and this imaginative process is part of its development. An interesting characteristic of analyzing in this population of children is the relationship that has been between the existence of AI and certain cognitive abilities like the understanding of the theory of the mind (TM) and the emotions. This article seeks to analyze in depth the relationship between AI and cognitive development.
