Abstract

In this article the results of the research, devoted to the status of the language of the Internet, conducted by the author are described. Nowadays there are two leading points of view on the problem of the article. Some linguists look upon this linguistic phenomenon as an independent language, which is used in on-line communication. Other linguists treat the language of the Internet as a type of slang or jargon used by a limited group of professionals. We consider the language of the Internet as a language for specific purposes (LSP) along side with the language of geometry and medicine. But for the first time in the history of linguistics an LSP influences the standard language so much. The research done proves it.
