What should a revised edition of a hypertext be? How might revising a hypertext differ from reissuing a printed book? This essay suggests a revision process that is self-reflexive and explicitly made visible, taking advantage of the ability of hypertext to expand the "margins" of a document in new directions. Where the issues are complex enough, the process of revision should be part of what is presented, not just a machine rumbling in the background that issues in a separate product. Copyright 2008 ACM.
