The developments in the field of lamp technology and remote lighting systems were discussed. These developments were expected to reduce electrical power consumption, and also improve the quality of light using light guides and reflector arrangements. Manufacturers have taken significant steps in making lamps both more energy efficient as well as providers of a better quality of light. New developments in lighting components such as T5 fluorescent lamps, metal halide lamps, electrodeless lamps, light emitting diode (LED) lamps, sulfur lamps, and electronic ballasts were also presented.
