A recent addition to the large arsenal of existing therapies for cancer, oncolytic viruses show great promise as selec- tive anti-tumour agents with high therapeutic effi- cacy. Issues such as tumour selectivity and potential toxicity are being better understood. Several clinical trials are being carried out with oncolytic viruses. This article reviews this prom- ising approach.
