The article discusses the characteristics and educational role of an electronic portfolio for students in the con- text of a virtual university. The portfolio in question pla- ces considerable emphasis on the formative assessment of learning on the basis of the ongoing development of professional competencies during the course in Educa- tional Psychology, which are summarized in a Practi- cum. The acquisition of competencies is documented through the publication of evidence of different levels of achievement. The e-portfolios are individual and are reinforced by a feedback-based teacher support mecha- nism that helps the students to adjust their performan- ce to the professional competencies required.
