Abstract

Recent economic studies found that, contrary to expectations, information technology limits productivity gains. As an investment, IT appears also to be less efficient than other capital spending. This column explains the causes of this productivity paradox— and recommends that organizations change their approach to allocating resources to IT. © 1993 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
