Abstract

A model of the heat transfer from the excited electron gas to the ionic framework in tracks formed by swift heavy particles in metals is discussed. The model allows to predict the rate of the electron-to-ion heat transfer in tracks in the broad range of electron temperatures, both above and below the Fermi energy.
