Abstract

We discuss the performance and applicability of self-consistent mean-field models for nuclear structure and dynamics taking reference to the relativistic mean-field model (RMF) and mainly to the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock method (SHF). After a very brief summary of the basics, we exemplify the status and future perspective in terms of a few selected key applications, neutron radii, level schemes, fission, resonance excitations, and soft modes. © World Scientific Publishing Company.
