Abstract

Linked data is enabling the creation of large-scale distributed data supply chains. However, it's often unclear where the information these supply chains produce originates. Unlike coffee, we don't have a fair trade certificate for data. Here, the author outlines how standards and research in data provenance are leading toward 'fair trade' data. © 1997-2012 IEEE.
