Abstract

ERASMUS is a multiexpert system for pavement assessment and rehabilitation which is used on twenty-five sites throughout France. This paper aims to assess the important role of the end user in an expert system project. The first section presents the objectives and results of the ERASMUS project. The second section consists in a technical overview of ERASMUS. The use of ERASMUS by the Department of Meurthe-et-Moselle is outlined in the third section. In the last section, the authors discuss the usefulness of end user involvement in an expert system project.
