Abstract

Libraries and librarians play a key role in cultural change, whether providing off-site accommodation for educational activities, a focal point for cultural activity or through their role in publicizing and promoting such events and activities. Describes some findings of a 2-year research project into adult education and creative writing. Looks at the role libraries played in the writing culture of Cleveland and how the major role they have acquired, in hosting and promoting the majority of writing activities in Cleveland, works in practice. Original abstract-amended.
