Abstract

An overview of disaster and mass casualty triage, the philosophies that have shaped current triage strategies, and the two most common triage systems in the U.S., SALT (Sort-Assess-Lifesaving Interventions-Treatment/Transport) and START (Simple Triage and Rapid Transport). Virtual Mentor is a monthly bioethics journal published by the American Medical Association.
