Abstract

PURPOSE We have reported that there are scapulo-humeral rhythms in the horizontal planes with flexion and exten-tion of the shoulder joint as well as with the elevation of arms and decrease in movements of scapulo-thoracic joint by ageing. Now we wish to propose that there also exists a scapulo-humeral rhythm in the rotation of the shoulder. SUBJECTS AND METHODS We measured the scapular inclination in seven normal volunteers ranged from 23 to 37(mean:31),using an X-CT and setting i in flexion 90•‹. Th 1)from neutral to 2)at neutral and 30 formed. RESULTS 1)The average inclinati mal rotation, 3.2•‹at 30 2)When maximal rotational isotonic motion were performed the inclinations were larger than the ones when they were at rest. BRIEF ˆê91ˆê
