About this group
The open group invites people to contribute and discuss research, and policy papers that relate directly or in directly to student-community engagement. In order to kick us off, I have added some papers on the role of universities in society, experiential learning and student volunteering... I hope this group will become a forum for dicsussion therefore cross cutting, or boundary spanning papers are particularily welcomed, as are those that look more closley at particular areas of practice.

I just started Saltmarsh & Hartley's 'To Serve a Larger Purpose". It's exciting! Also just checked out the NERCHE white paper & the catalyst/full participation paper. Anyone else into these?

Just added a paper which includes a section entitled "rearticulating the scholarship of engagement: from the US to the UK" I would be interested to hear perspectives from the USA on the authors interpretation of research and practice there, and the impressions the paper gives to an international audience about English or UK wide HE.
Just added a guide on Community Development which Alan Barr was heavily involved in. Alan was a Student Community Action advocate and champion in the 1970s.

I would still think about adding the abstract - if we decide to make the group private in future then we can - but in the meantime - it keeps it short and sweet, and I'm sure (touch wood) that folk will be able to...
