I am a writing a book about my father's uncle concerning his service as a co-pilot in the ETO for the USAAC flying B-24's into German Territory. Unfortunately he was shotdown-Oct 30, 1944 near Hamburg Germany. 8 of 11 crew perished including my great uncle.
With his logs from his missions I am writing a book. Excerpts are availble at: charlesgempelamericanhero.blogspot.com.
Questions can be directed to me at any of these email addresses:
douglas.gempel@my.cs.coloradotech.edu
drgempel@insightbb.com
douglasgempel@yahoo.com
My book writing is moving slowly because I am also working on my Doctorate at Colorado Technical University in Digital Systems Security.
Thanks, Doug Gempel.

Emmanuel Dubois As far as I know, you can't access papers written by authors that aren't on Mendeley. For example, you could read mine, but not a paper written by Michael Carley, for copyright reasons. However, it gives you the full reference and then you can find it at your university's library or by other online sources :-)

Does any of you have historical projects going on?

Neala Hickey Hi Emmanuel
It's hardly academic but I am in the process of researching for a podcast on 20th century conflict. I actually wanted to avoid the world wars but focus on wars which have had huge global impacts despite being regional conflicts. The first topic is the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan 1979 - a turning point for the Soviet Union in many way...

Emmanuel Dubois Hi Neala! Well, post-WWII is a fascinating subject. We still live in a world ruled by post-war's institutions (UN, NATO, etc.) and the geopolitics of the Cold War are both subtle and grand. They are hard to fully understand, and reacquire that you go back at least to WWI to fully understand the dynamics in Europe and USSR after WWII.

Hi everyone,
I'd like to know your interests in WWII. Is it its origins, politics, military operations, social or artistic movements?
Let's have a small chat on what picks your interest!
As for myself, my main interest is the war's origins (but I read, learn and teach on every aspects). I agree with the "2nd 30 years war" denomination, as I think WWI and WWII really are in the same process and that 1945 really makes a fracture with the 19th century world (very badly resumed, but you get the idea).
What about you guys?
Emmanuel

Ricardo Vidal I'm quite fascinated by WWI and II in respect to how war was still very much a numbers game whereas now it's mostly strategic and political. Mostly due to advancements in technology.

Emmanuel Dubois OK, are you mostly talking about aviation, telecommunication, weapons?
