Dear Mendeley user,

We are iRiS Lab at University of Pittsburgh and are conducting a study to learn how researchers use academic social networking sites. Please find the following link to the questionnaire that asks a variety of questions about your attitudes toward your usages of Mendeley.

Link: http://katz.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_0AOfXSyfFYN3Gtv&gid=517931&did=18

We will only analyze your answers in aggregation, and will not release them to others. This study has been approved by the University of Pittsburgh Institutional Review Board (# PRO12090367). We hope you can participate in our study. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at dahpitt618@live.com. Thank you

Sincerely,

Is anyone familiar with articles critiquing approximate bayesian computing or an evaluation of when it can and cannot be expected to perform well (other than the Templeton discussion in PNAS)?

Carl Boettiger Leo pointed me to this: http://arxiv.org/abs/1102.4432, just what I was looking for. Added article to the group. Those interested might want to see the discussion by one of the authors on his blog: http://xianblog.wordpress.com/2011/03/08/error-in-abc-versus-error-in-model-choice/

• Dear All My name is Moeez; I am a PhD student at the University of Liverpool in the UK. As a main part of my study, I am conducting a survey about the future of the Internet and Cyber Technology from the point of view of Scholars. The idea for this research grew out of work I did with my supervisory team in the Department of Sociology and Social Policy at the Liverpool University between 2008 and 2010 to develop a study about the Internet in future. If they are willing to participate in this study, just follow the link below for receiving a short online survey: https://spreadsheets1.google.com/viewform?hl=en&hl=en&formkey=dHJST2E1MXlacDJDUlhxNFNINm5wQmc6MQ#gid=0
• Many thanks for your consideration and best wishes, Moeez Khademhoseiny
