Biographical Information
The Rev. Dr. Albert B. Collver III was born in Jackson, MI in 1972. Besides some of the early years of his life being spent in Jackson, he also spent a number of years in the Detroit area. His family eventually moved to Knoxville, TN where he graduated from high school.
Following high school he attended Concordia College in Ann Arbor, MI, graduating 1993. He earned his Masters of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO in 1997. Subsequently he earned his Masters of Sacred Theology and Ph.D. from Concordia Seminary, earning those degrees in 1999 and 2001 respectively.
After earning his Ph.D. he served as pastor of Hope Lutheran Church, DeWitt, MI from 2001 to 2006. From 2006 to September 2010, he has served and is serving as Executive Pastoral Assistant for LCMS World Relief and Human Care. Beginning in September 2010, he is serving as Director of Church Relations – Assistant to the President.
Rev. Dr. Collver has had a number of opportunities to teach, among them being as an adjunct professor at Concordia University, Ann Arbor, MI, at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, and at the Siberian Lutheran Church’s seminary in Novosibirsk, Russia.
He has also published numerous articles in various Lutheran publications, including articles in Logia, Concordia Journal, The Lutheran Witness, and others. He is the author of Bible studies for God’s Word for Today on Ezra, Nehemiah, Hosea, Joel and Amos, published by Concordia Publishing House. He has also made a number of media appearances, including being a guest a number of times on KFUO-AM radio and the “Issues, Etc.” program.
In the course of his job responsibilities, Rev. Dr. Collver has traveled extensively. Besides his teaching opportunities in Novosibirsk, Russia, Dr. Collver has also made trips in an official capacity to Germany, various countries in Africa, to Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, to South America and to India.
Rev. Dr. Collver and his wife, Terra, have been blessed with two children, a son, Christopher and a daughter, Kaitlyn.
