Biographical Information

Antonio Moneo works for the Knowledge Management & Learning Department at the Inter-American Development Bank (Washington, DC).

Antonio is specialized in Knowledge Transfer and Exchange in the field of Social Sciences, and is particularly interested in projects that enhance the visibility and interaction of researchers and knowledge generated at Universities. He is the co-director of, a virtual platform for researchers interested in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

He was previously employed at the London School of Economics, where he coordinated several academic programmes, such as the Diplomacy and International Strategy Executive Masters Programme and the Balkan International Affairs Programme at LSE IDEAS, the centre for diplomacy, international affairs and strategy at LSE.

His academic research looks at the institutionalization of authoritarian regimes, the Cold War, the Balkans, the post-electoral revolutions in Eurasia and most recently on Spain and the Mediterranean in the Cold War. In his PhD in Political Science, he explored the constitutional transformations in Yugoslavia (1946-1989). He has several publications and has participated in several international conferences.

Parallel to his research, he has also worked as an international election observer for OSCE/ODIHR where he has participated as short-term observer (Macedonia, 2006; Serbia, 2006;Montenegro, 2009) and long-term observer (Georgia, 2008).
