Babür ERDEM

I was born in 25 April 1988 in Aydın.

Aydın is a small town, but have very old history. For example Miletus (now in Aydın Province) has great importance in science. Thales, Anaximander and Anaximenes lived in this archeological site. This sophisticated history and environment have increased my interest to science.

Now, I live in Ankara and study in Middle East Technical University (METU), Biology Department. Thereby, I have found an opportunity to develop my interest to science.

Thus, I joined the student clubs at METU. In the METU Birdwatching Society, I animated my childhood hobby, attended countless birdwacthing trips and gave seminars -about Birdwatching in September 2009 at Fethiye for FETAV & Doğa Araştırmaları Derneği and about Biodiversity and birds in September 2010 at Ankara for Doğa Derneği. At the same time, I have assigned in administrative board of METU Biology and Genetics Student Club (Biyogen) since 2009. We achieved many of conferences, field trips, informative events on AIDS as Biyogen. Also, Me & my friend Çağrı M. Bakırcı founded Evrim Ağacı (Tree of Evolution Movement) for explain the Evolutionary Theory to Turkish public. We have above 20.000 member on our Facebook page and it is sponsored by ESEB now.

In addition to all, I worked in Prof. Dr. Meryem Beklioğlu's Limnology Lab. voluntarily for 2 years. I take part in many researches’ field also lab works. After I decided to work on other subject from limnology, I have started to researches in Prof. Dr. Aykut Kence & Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meral Kence’s lab. Then I determined to my research subject as sex differentiation in Daphnia and achieved presentations in national congresses about it. In these days, I continue to my research with Prof. Dr. Aykut Kence, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meral Kence’s and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mesut Muyan.
