Egresado de la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana en ciencias de la comunicación en 1985 con área de concentración en comunicación educativa. Diplomado en opinión pública por la Universidad Iberoamericana, cursos en historia de América Latina en la Universidad de Las Américas, maestrante en Gestión Pública Aplicada por el Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.
Consejero Educativo en la Embajada de los Estados Unidos de América en 1982 a través de su Instituto Internacional para la Educación y, durante 1983, Analista de Opinión Internacional en la Unidad de Análisis de Información adscrita a la Gerencia de Comunicación Social de Petróleos Mexicanos.
Instructor en teorías sociales e historia en el Plan de Actividades de Apoyo a la Educación de la Secretaría de Educación Pública en 11 estados del país. Tallerista, en 1985, en prácticas lúdicas, educación, información y medios de comunicación para el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes a través del Museo de Arte Moderno de la Ciudad de México.
