Biographical Information
Hello! I’m Miranda. I’m smitten with and fascinated by words.
I currently live in Spokane, Washington, and I'm a community college English instructor (I teach composition/rhetoric courses). I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in English Literature.
I’m also a writer (you can see my writing portfolio at mirandaswriting.net). I’ve written for a number of sites and publications and hope to continue doing so.
My research interests include composition, rhetoric, the history of rhetoric, rhetorical analysis, etymology, sociolinguistics, public understanding of and engagement with the humanities, the intersection of skepticism and rhetoric/composition pedagogy, and the relationship between clear and precise writing and the effective dissemination of knowledge.
On my blog (mirandaceleste.net/blog) and elsewhere, I write about a variety of topics related to language, rhetoric, writing, literature, education, politics, religion, atheism, skepticism, and the negative effects of childhood religious indoctrination.
