Niels-Oliver Walkowski, Mag.

Niels-Oliver Walkowski is working for the DFG funded project "Personal Data Repository" for biographical information of the 19th century which is hosted at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Science. He focuses on the development of a biographical content model, on data migration and visualization. In addition he writes a Phd. thesis about knowledge discovery between controlled semantics and the Linked Open Data Space in the humanities.

Before he worked as a research assistant in the TELOTA Initiave at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Science. He was responsible for the Digital Edition of the "Magazin zur Erfahrungsseelenkunde" and for the early development of the "Wissensspeicher"

Niels-Oliver Walkowski studied latinamerican Anthropology and Philosophy at the Free University in Berlin. In between he worked as a student assistant at the Center for Digital Systems - CeDiS which implemented blended learning strategies on university level. He also took part in the development of some eLearning proyects like "Mujeres y Género en América Latina".

Beyond his engagement in eScience he worked for several NGO's in the area of development politics in countries in Africa and Latin America. As part of this he spent half a year as a Junior Professional Officer for the kaite initiative in Zimbabwe.
