Biographical Information

Absolutely convinced Entrepreneur since my very first job, having left the University with a PHD in "Managing Foreign Exchange Risks" (1991) and ending my DJ career, which started in 1976.

Co-founded several media- (advertising agency, book-publisher, tv-production), launched Germany´s first print magazine about the internet ("CU") in 1996 - and by doing so lost all money so far earned.

Co-founded Germany's first online auction site ricardo.de (1998) and had a fantastic time with a fast growing entity, IPO in 99 and luckily sold in 2000. Having been lucky a second time being the first investor and executive chairman of last.fm. Very much enjoying my co-founding/exec chairman role at Mendeley these days.

My goal: Convey an idea of the beauty of entrepreneurship - thats why I´m teaching Entrepreneurship at the WHU business school, Germany, and invest time and money in start-ups all over Europe.

Currently acting as Executive Chairman at Mendeley and invested in 25+ digital media start-ups.
