Biographical Information

Steven have been conducting interdisciplinary research in the areas of Acoustic and Optical Meta-materials, specifically, exploring the behavior of wave propagation in artificially engineered periodic structures, and developing functional micro/nano systems to benefit applications such as communications, bio-sensing, and medical diagnosis and therapy. He has published twenty peer-reviewed journal papers. His research findings have been featured as cover images in Journal of Physics D, Applied Physics Letters, and Lab on a Chip, and reported by The National Science Foundation and more than 200 public media such as US News and World Report. In 2010-2011, Steven received the Theodore Holden Thomas, Jr. Memorial Scholarship for his academic excellency. In 2010, he won the student paper competition award in the physical acoustic category at the IEEE International Ultrasonic Symposium. In 2009, he placed second at ESM’s Graduate Student Symposium.
