Biographical Information
Summary: 10+ year experience in setting up, leading, and managing Cross Border Higher Education partnerships.
In depth knowledge of Quality Assurance in international (UNESCO, ENQA) and national (QAA, HQAA) context.
I am an Economist with a degree from the University of East London and a Postgraduate degree in Management from the University of Leicester. For the past 9 years I have been leading MBS College, a private College in Crete Greece. This College is in partnership with Nottingham Trent University and is a supporting institution for the University of London International Programmes (formerly the External System).
Under my current and previous roles as College Principal (2009-today) and Director of Programmes (2003-2009) respectively, I have been leading and managing the Transnational Higher Education Partnerships of the College along with overseeing the implementation of quality assurance policies of the collaborating universities and the external accreditation bodies.
I am following closely the developments and challenges in the higher education sector both in UK and at International level. This is has been the focus of my PhD thesis at Birmingham City University which is titled “Cross Border Higher Education and Quality Management” and is anticipated to be completed in October 2011.
I am particularly familiar with the recent developments in the area of Internationalisation of Higher Education, Cross Border Higher Education and student experience. I have a publication and conference participation record which is just an indication of my ability to write and present.
Recently I have been invited to participate as an Academic Board member of the Assessment Committee of EDU – an intergovernmental organisation formed by international treaty to promote quality education and accreditation http://edu.int/EDU_Assessment_Committee.htm
My teaching experience spans over a period of 10+years at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have been teaching Accounting and Finance for Managers, Management Accounting, Strategic Management Accounting, Business Analysis and Valuation. Since 2001 I am a lecturer at MBS College and since 2010 an on-line instructor for the University of Liverpool Postgraduate Programmes delivered on-line by Laureate Higher Education Group.
