Abstract

Particulate matter local composition and concentration depends on its origin (both natural and anthropogenic) and on the meteorological and climatological situation. This paper reports on a study into inorganic aerosol characterization at a site in the western part of the Po Valley in which, in addition to agricultural activities, there are many factories and a large power plant. Subjects covered include meteorological characterization, plume trajectories, sampling and analysis techniques, and elemental composition.
