Abstract

Allergic rhinitis is a bothersome condition and has a high world-wide prevalence. It is commonly associated with allergic asthma. There is, therefore, an urgent need to accurately diagnose and promptly treat this disease. This article outlines the important epidemiology and clinical features of allergic rhinitis. Accurate diagnosis and documentation of disease severity is emphasized. The broad-based treatment approach needed is discussed. The link with allergic asthma is explored.
