The histological examination of the eye of a patient with pseudoxanthoma elasticum revealed pathological changes identical with those described by Hagedoorn and Böck. Bruch’s membrane showed thickening and strong basophilic staining reaction and in several places ruptures were seen. It may be claimed that this case supports the opinion of the above mentioned authors that these changes are typical in Grönblad-Strandberg’s syndrome and should be considered as the histological substratum of angioid streaks. © 1948 S.
