Aptitudes de inteligencia y procesamiento de la informacion. (Intelligence aptitudes and information processing.)
Abstract
Reviews the literature on human intelligence and memory, and discusses the work of the factorialists concerning the cognitive paradigm. J. P. Guilford's operational-informational model, and his treatment of memory in terms of information processing are discussed. A new definition of intelligence, which is based on this work, and research relating to the new paradigm for the study of intelligence are reviewed. R. B. Cattell's work (1971) with the Ability Dimensions Analysis Chart is noted, as well as the basic questions he raises concerning intelligence and the distinctions between long- and short-term memory. E. E. Snow (1980) and J. B. Carroll's (1980) contributions to these concepts are summarized. Memory, visual memory, and memory span are discussed. Work in the area of cognitive correlations of intelligence tests is cited. (99 ref) (PsycLIT)
