Abstract

An approximate analytic description of the energy spectrum of auroral electrons at any atmospheric depth is derived for incident spectra of arbitrary shape. The practical application of this expression describing the spectrum is illustrated by the calculation of energy deposition vs altitude profiles. © 1976.
