Behavior of a buckling-restrained braced frame subjected to near-field ground motions
Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Behaviour of Steel Structures in Seismic Areas Stessa 2006 (2006)
Abstract
This paper documents the seismic design of a buckling-restrained braced frame (BRBF) building to U.S. steel design standards and summarizes the response quantities obtained when such a design is subjected to ten pairs of near-field strong ground motions. Building description, occupancy, and importance are provided; the site seismicity is defined; and linear, code-type analyses are described. Inelastic response history analyses are described. Selected response history analyses results are summarized and compared against permissible responses and response predictions found elsewhere in the literature. © 2006 Taylor & Francis Group.
