Benefit-finding & benefit-reminding
Handbook of positive psychology (2002)
Abstract
In this chapter, we summarize the prevalence of benefit-finding and describe what is known about the related emotional and health advantages. We then briefly examine key assumptions about benefit-finding and offer several yet-to-be-tested alternatives to the dominant conceptualization of benefit-finding as a form of cognitive adaption. Finally we propose directions for future research and consider the implications of this area of inquiry for positive psychology. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2002 APA, all rights reserved)
