Abstract
Information is the cornerstone of modern society. The radical evolution of
computational methods and the advent of the Internet have completely changed the way
we deal with information today. This thesis analyses the progress of information from
different perspectives and examines critical issues. Though evolved for centuries the
recent developments of information have emphasized new qualities and strategies of
handling. Sophisticated methods of processing information allow to combine new
technologies of mathematical and visual description. The conclusions derived in this
research are transformed into suggestions for improved methods to conquer the
information jungle.
