Abstract

A small assemblage of millimetric black carbonaceous compressions from the Wynniatt Formation of the Shaler Supergroup includes Chuaria circularis, Tawuia dalensis and Beltina danai. Also present are stringlike remains that may be either pyritized vendotaeniacean filaments or small burrow fills. The occurrence of Tawuia is only the second known from North America. The presence of the Tawuia-Chuaria assemblage provides important corroborating evidence for correlation of the Wynniatt Formation of the Minto Inlier with the upper part of the Little Dal Group of the Mackenzie Mountains 1000 km to the southwest. -Authors
