Abstract

The problem of redundant neck skin from aging of the face and neck has been resolved with many different techniques. Full neck lift with or without facelift is the best procedure in some cases. Where there is minor neck skin excess, a modified facelift or S-lift is helpful. Direct excision of skin has been tried with submental incision and a U-shaped or triangular-shaped excision. Platysma tightening either by suturing or with the Gi-ampapa suture [1] may be used in combination with skin excision. A new technique utilizing a trapdoor type of hexagonal excision results in a curved scar with less chance of dog-ear than the other forms of excision. © Springer-Verlag 2008.
