CHANNEL DESIGN USING SEDIMENT TRANSPORT PRINCIPLES.

Abstract

A method is presented that uses the concept of shielding to assess quantitatively the effect of vegetation on stability of sand beds. The method can be improved and refined to become a powerful tool in the hands of designers of channels formed in sandy material. Equations show calculations; graphs are appended.
