Abstract

A once-through supercharged boiler having the capacity close to that of a practical boiler was manufactured with a control device incorporated in which a mini-computer was used. Through the operation of this boiler, a number of characteristics of a supercharged boiler which performs a self-sustaining operation have been obtained, which will be necessary in designing the boilers of this type in future. Control experiments of the boiler by means of a computer, a number of control methods and new methods of diagnosis and prediction developed aiming at perfect automation of a boiler plant were subjected to experiments adaptable to a practical boiler plant of this type and satisfactory results have been obtained.
