Abstract

Since 1980, daily samples of atmospheric aerosol have been constantly taken in Preila which represents the rural site of Lithuania. Concentrations of such chemical components as S042-, NO3-, Cl-, H+, NH4+, Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ have been determined. A statistical analysis of the observed concentrations is presented in the paper. A seasonal variation is typical of the major aerosol components. The alteration of daily concentrations of chemical components is discussed in conjunction with meteorological conditions. Air masses from western Europe have been concluded to bring the greatest amount of anthropogenic pollutants to Lithuania. © 1994.
